Hristina Ivanoska who
is founder and program advisor at press to exit project
space, during her presentation will also present their
recent publication that gives and overview of the
last two years of programming.
Press to exit project space focuses on exploring new
ways of generating and producing projects and collaborations
with artists and curators from Macedonia and abroad
through the Visiting Curatorial Initiative (VCI),
the New Project Productions (NPP), and the Lectures,
Presentations and Exhibitions (LHE) series.
Visiting Curatorial Initiative (VCI) aims to stimulate
and support the research and implementation of new
curatorial projects by emerging and established international
and local curators. The guests in 2005 and 2006 included
Sebastian Cichocki (Poland), Goran Petrovic (Serbia),
Basak Senova (Turkey), and Agnieszka Kurant (Poland/France).
During the residency, the curator is engaged in researching
and developing a project to be realized in Skopje,
while delivering a lecture series focusing on their
curatorial practice.
New Project Productions (NPP) is a program designed
to engage Macedonian artists and curators in production
of new projects by partnering them in development
of the concept and the production by offering a start-up
budget. The first artists invited were the collaborative
team OPA&HA, Dejan Spasovic, Aleksandar Stankoski,
and Liljana Gjuzelova, followed by the curatorial
team of Elena Veljanovska, Hristijan Panev, and Boris
Petrovski and the group exhibition Citism, and also
Marjan Denkov and Biljana P. Isijanin who curated
the exhibition OFF.
Lectures, Presentations and Exhibitions (LHE) is a
dynamic program that invites individuals, groups,
organizations, and institutions, to present recent
research, projects, publications, and productions
in the gallery. Guest in the LPE program include (to
name just few): one of the most relevant photographers
working today Wolfgang Tillmans who had his first
solo show anywhere in the Balkans with our space;
internationally established artists Marjetica Potrc
and Kyong Park who were doing research travel in Skopje
for the project the Lost Highway Expedition as well
as the lecture of Laura Mansfield and Amy Freneck
about the art space in Bristol, Spike Island, and
the lecture by Dr. Jean-Paul Martinon, lecturer in
Museum Studies and Cultural Theory at Goldsmiths Collage
in London.
Press to exit
project space is made possible with the continuing
support of the Embassy of Switzerland in Skopje, the
Swiss Cultural Programme South East Europe and Ukraine,
and other partners.
